Press release: DEHN at Light + Building 2016

Visit DEHN at the Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt from March 13 to 18, 2016 (hall 8.0, booth D90). Meet our experts and find out about our products, protection solutions, seminars and test services in our modern laboratories. DEHN’s trade fair highlights are: DEHNcord L 3P – reliable protection of terminal equipment for LED technology, DEHNvario – a 3-in-1 protection solution for e.g. analogue camera systems, DEHNclip – the simplest toolless clip available on the market for connecting earthing materials to rebars and the DEHNcheck camera – for safe and easy inspection of electrical installations via radio link to smartphones or tablets.

DEHN will also provide information about standardisation. The future German DIN EN 0100-443 and -534 standards state that transient overvoltage must be coped with by installing surge protective devices (SPDs), meaning that this overvoltage must be limited according to the impulse withstand voltage of the installation. DEHN has been offering harmonised and coordinated protection solutions for years and already meets the requirements of the future DIN EN 0100-443 and -534 standards. We offer, for example, protective devices which make it easy to select the optimum product since the backup fuse is already integrated in the arrester. Moreover, our portfolio already includes adequate arresters for protecting d.c. systems. Do you have questions concerning the future standard? No problem, our experts will make you familiar with standardisation and will be pleased to help you find the right solution for your application.

Highlights in detail

Thanks to their flexible connection options and compact design, DEHNcord 3P LTG and DEHNcord IP65 can be installed wherever space is restricted. These new surge protective devices now allow to protect two active cores at the same time – A supply line and an additional control line. DEHNcord 3P LTG is ideally suited for fuse boxes with little available space (e.g. EK 480 from Langmatz). The even more flexible DEHNcord IP65 can be easily and quickly used for installations in moist atmospheres (e.g. in the mast base of modern LED lights) and for retrofitting in electrical shutter and gate drives.

DEHNvario stands for a new generation of arresters which combines the protection of various power supply and information technology signals. The new DEHNvario series is unique on the market. The variable enclosure design offers flexibility in terms of space and connection technology, thus allowing to implement customer-specific protection solutions. DEHNvario 3in1 protects three interfaces at the same time - the supply voltage, the data interface and the video signal - and is ideally suited for protecting analogue camera systems. This complete solution reduces incorrect selection and allows fast and easy installation of the arrester without tools thanks to its plug-in technology. The high performance of the arrester ensures safe operation of the systems even in case of a lightning strike.

Fast – easy – lightning-current-tested: DEHNclip is a rebar clip that allows earthing materials to be quickly and easily connected to rebars without tools. The German DIN 18014 standard for foundation earth electrodes requires connections to the reinforcement at intervals of 2 m. Since only one component is quickly inserted in DEHNclip, time and installation costs are saved. Screws and nuts are no longer lost and tightening torques are not required. Moreover, the weight is reduced which means a lower burden for the installers. The rebar clip takes up little space in the upper reinforcement so that sufficient concrete cover is ensured. DEHNclip is available for connecting 10 mm round wires or 30 x 3.5 mm strip steel to rebars with a diameter of 6/8/10/12 mm.

DEHNcheck camera brings the invisible to light and allows safe inspections and easy handling via a wireless radio link to smartphones or tablets. The portable inspection camera can be used for regular visual inspections and for documenting the state of electrical installations up to 36 kV / 15 - 60 Hz. The system is easy and safe to use and can be easily controlled via WiFi. Especially practical: The camera can be controlled via an app on smartphones or tablets.
