From September 15 to 18, 2015, DEHN, the full-line supplier of surge protection, lightning protection/earthing and safety equipment, will present comprehensive practice-oriented concepts and solutions at the HUSUM Wind trade fair (hall 5, booth A03). The presentation will focus on powerful lightning current and surge arresters, professional services and comprehensive lightning protection and earthing concepts for protecting entire wind turbines and single components. This allows to increase system operation and availability in the long run and to sustainably secure investments. Moreover, DEHN will showcase numerous new products such as DEHNbloc® Maxi CI.
Lightning and surge protection for wind turbines is of utmost importance since wind turbines are prone to lightning strikes due to their complex design, height and exposed arrangement. Protection solutions from DEHN cover both power electronic components and components of telecommunication and signalling networks. The portfolio comprises selected high-quality products for the blade tip up to the foundation. Specific applications include, for example, the protection of generators, pitch drives, turbine controllers, inverters and earth-termination systems.
Moreover, DEHN will present numerous services such as lightning protection concepts for entire wind turbines, operations buildings and offshore platforms as well as earthing concepts for concrete and hybrid towers. The company also performs lightning current tests for system components up to 400 kA e.g. at rotor blades in its in-house test centre. This comprehensive service portfolio allows to specifically protect wind turbines and components from direct and indirect lightning effects and other transient overvoltages.
In addition DEHN will present numerous new products such as the coordinated DEHNbloc® Maxi 1 CI 440/760 lightning current arrester with integrated backup fuse for nominal voltages up to 400/690 V a.c. which takes up to 60% less pace in the switchgear cabinet than a conventional solution. It can be used e.g. on the low-voltage side of the transformer of a wind turbine or for protecting the frequency converter.
With an increased discharge capacity (Imax 40 kA) and a compact design of 1.5 standard DIN modules, the type 2 DEHNguard® SE H 1000 FM surge arrester for voltages up to 1000 V a.c. also features the modular design of the DEHNguard® series which ensures fast replacement of protection modules without tools.
The new DEHNvario arrester is unique on the market. Its variable enclosure design offers increased flexibility in terms of space and connection technology, thus allowing a variety of customer-specific protection solutions to be implemented for electroacoustic systems. Further solutions with the DEHNvario product platform are in preparation.
Another highlight is the active arc fault protection system DEHNshort which significantly reduces arc fault risks for persons and systems. It consists of an arc fault detection system and a short-circuiter unit.
