At E-world energy & water 2026 in Essen, DEHN will demonstrate how critical energy infrastructure can be reliably protected against damage caused by lightning and power surges.

The energy transition can only succeed if security of supply is consistently taken into account. The more electrification, digitalization, and renewable energy generation are expanded, the more vulnerable systems become to disruptions. At E-world energy & water 2026 in Essen, DEHN will demonstrate how critical energy infrastructures can be reliably protected against lightning and surge damage. From February 10 to 12, 2026, the company will present comprehensive protection concepts for smart energy grids, battery energy storage systems (BESS), and charging infrastructure for electric trucks and buses in Hall 6, Booth 6B140.

Decentralized feeders, digital local network stations, and modern communication and control systems make power grids more efficient, but at the same time more vulnerable to disruptions. Lightning interference, surges, and EMC influences are among the key challenges. At the trade fair, DEHN will demonstrate how these risks can be specifically minimized—from risk analysis and planning to the complete implementation of protection concepts. Lightning and surge protection is a key system factor for grid stability and, consequently, for the success of the energy transition.

Battery storage systems and digital local network stations, in particular, are emerging as critical components of the energy landscape. Outages have a direct impact on logistics, public transportation, industrial processes, and energy supply. DEHN presents practical protection solutions for these applications that balance both safety and cost-effectiveness. This is because companies, too, are under increasing pressure to operate in a more sustainable and efficient manner. Reasons for this include rising energy costs and new, more comprehensive political mandates for energy efficiency and climate neutrality.

In Essen, DEHN experts will provide information on current regulatory requirements and share practical know-how for the efficient implementation of protection measures. They will advise on products and system solutions related to surge protection, grounding, equipotential bonding, and the protection of power and data lines, particularly in the fields of energy and e-mobility. In addition, they will present engineering services that support plant operators throughout all project phases—from risk analysis and planning to technical implementation.
