DEHNsense EFD – Triple alarmed for additional safety

Safety in the workplace is a key concern for energy suppliers just as it is in modern industry. Voltage alarms / electrical field detectors play an important role. The DEHNsense EFD electrical field detector warns of the dangers of electric current visually, acoustically and by vibration when it detects a critical AC voltage, thus alerting the user in good time before entering the danger zone. As an additional measure to the 5 safety rules, the detector significantly increases safety when working on electrical systems. Accidents caused by human error – such as when an electrically skilled person accidentally approaches the wrong energised switchgear installation – can be avoided. The DEHNsense EFD can be used in indoor installations and outdoors even in wet weather (IP degree of protection 65). The detector is easy to operate and can be worn variably on the wrist over the glove or on the helmet.

DEHNsense EFD – More safety when working on electrical installations

The portable voltage alarm can be used worldwide in electrical switchgear installations and on overhead line networks for nominal voltages of 6 kV - 420 kV / 16.7 Hz - 60 Hz. Its sensitivity can be set in advance via the DEHNwork App. The system-specific response value is selected according to the conditions on site. If the EFD is switched on, it outputs an alarm as soon as it detects a dangerous electric field. The warning is visual, acoustic and by vibration. It provides additional safety for electrically skilled persons when maintaining electrical systems. However, it does not replace the 5 safety rules as per EN 50110-1 that apply in this area.

DEHNsense EFD is light and compact and can be worn on the wrist over the glove or on the helmet as required. It can be operated safely with gloves. All data can be conveniently set and displayed in advance using a smartphone or tablet (iOS or Android). The DEHNwork App can also be used to activate system profiles, create new ones and adapt them to the current system conditions. The DEHNwork app can scan a QR code that has been generated for a specific system and transfer the individual response value to the EFD without contact. All important events are displayed in the DEHNwork App .

Regular safety training, such as how to use voltage detectors / electrical field detectors, is important. Training ensures that the equipment is used effectively and safely. As well as imparting technical knowledge, training courses raise awareness, also of the legal framework and current technical standards.
