DEHN protects today’s highly complex building and plant technology, intelligent controllers as well as system technology of renewable power generation systems. The company will showcase numerous innovations in the fields of surge protection, lightning protection /earthing and safety equipment at the Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt and at the Hannover Messe. DEHN will present its new products and its broad portfolio of protection systems based on practical applications for different industries.
The highlights will be DEHNsolid – the world’s most powerful lightning current arrester, DEHNcord – a surge protective device that reliably protects terminal equipment of LED lights, DEHNcube – an ideal surge protective device for string inverters, the patented HVI®power Conductor – the latest continuation of lightning protection according to Benjamin Franklin, a high-voltage-resistant insulated down conductor which safely conducts the lightning current from the air-termination system to the earth-termination system as well as DEHNshort – a product which allows fast and safe disconnection of installations in case of an arc fault – an innovation for the protection of installations!
DEHN will effectively present its motto “DEHN protects“ at its booths at the Light + Building trade fair in Frankfurt (hall 8.0, booth D90) and at the trade fair in Hanover (hall 13, booth C80).
The new DEHNsolid is the most powerful type 1 arrester on the market and a solution for applications with extremely high requirements on the lightning current discharge capacity. With its discharge capacity of
200 kA (10/350 μs) per pole, DEHNsolid is the ideal arrester if no splitting of the lightning current is achieved or the potential risk is assumed to exceed LPL I in special installations and a risk for the installation is to be prevented, even in case of extreme stress on the lightning and surge protection system.
The installation benefits of DEHNcord resulting from its flexible terminals become evident wherever space is restricted. Thanks to its compact design, DEHNcord can also be installed in extremely small installation spaces. The new DEHNcord surge arrester effectively protects, for example, modern LED lights from surges. DEHNcord ensures reliable protection of terminal equipment at minimum expense.
The new DEHNcube YPV SCI surge arrester reliably protects the d.c. side of photovoltaic systems from surges caused by lightning interference. This new concept is the first to combine numerous benefits for photovoltaic systems in a single device. The type 2 surge arrester with an IP 65 degree of protection houses the tried and tested Y circuit with the patented SCI technology in a very small space. It is the first type 2 d.c. surge arrester for PV systems which can be installed outside of enclosures and is thus ideally suited for protecting string inverters. DEHNcube is a surge protective device in an IP65 enclosure and an easy solution for retrofitting surge protective devices in PV systems.
The new DEHNbox TC 80 protects modern communication systems. Surges are limited to safe values without interfering with the data signal. The compact arrester can be retrofitted at any time, thus ensuring lightning and surge protection in existing installations. Thanks to its IP 65 degree of protection, the device can be installed in almost all environments. DEHNbox is thus the ideal surge protective device for private and industrial environments.
The HVI®power Conductor from DEHN is another innovation in the portfolio of high-voltage-resistant insulated conductors. Its special design allows installers to maintain equivalent separation distances of 90 cm (air) from earthed metal building installations. Uncontrolled flashover is thus prevented and the lightning current is systematically conducted to the earth-termination system. The HVI®power Conductor is tested with lightning impulse currents of 200 kA (10/350 μs) and can thus also be used for LPL I. In combination with a supporting tube and a tripod, the conductor can form an isolated air-termination system and can thus be used more flexibly. Moreover, air-termination mast heights up to 7.5 m and large protected zones for roof-mounted structures are possible. If dimensioned properly, insulated conductors form an air-termination system which provides protection for future structural changes on and to the roof.
DEHNshort – an arc fault protection system for low-voltage systems consisting of a detection system and short-circuiting unit – is an innovation for the protection of installations. The detection system can be integrated in the door of the switchgear cabinet and the short-circuiting unit takes up little space. DEHNshort provides a high degree of protection for your installations and also takes up limited space. It allows fast and safe disconnection of installations in case of an arc fault. Long downtime and the resulting follow-up costs can thus be prevented. DEHNshort detects an arc fault at the early stages of development and it only takes a split second until the arc fault is extinguished so that its effects are limited to an acceptable level.
