FAQ
The DEHNsense EFD can be worn either on the wrist (of the dominant hand – right or left-handed user) or on the safety helmet. First, the strap is fed through the slots in the adapter and then the EFD is inserted into the adapter.
Wearing on the wrist is recommended for use on switchgear installations. A flexible wrist strap is included in the scope of delivery. We recommend wearing the EFD on the safety helmet in outdoor switching stations or when working on overhead line towers. An optionally available, flexible helmet strap, Part No. 740 290, can be used for this purpose.
If the DEHNsense EFD is not moved for more than approx. 5 minutes and does not detect an electric field, the device goes into an energy-saving "sleep mode". However, as soon as the device is moved again, it performs a self-test and is active again.
The EFD should be charged before first use or when the rechargeable battery indication flashes orange. Charging is contactless via a QI-certified charger (not included). For charging, the base unit of the EFD without adapter housing must be placed directly on the charging cradle. The battery indication then lights up orange until the charging process is complete. The electric field is not measured or indicated during the charging process. Once charging is complete, the battery indication goes out. After charging, the EFD must be restarted by pressing the button. To enable the fastest possible charging process, a charging power of >= 10W is recommended.
Note: The rechargeable battery can be replaced, but only by DEHN.
Regular maintenance tests by the manufacturer are recommended for the DEHNsense EFD. The intervals for the maintenance test should be determined depending on the conditions of use; for example the frequency of use, environmental conditions, transport, etc. A maintenance test at least every 6 years is recommended.
If the DEHNsense EFD is dirty, it must be cleaned before and after use with a damp lint-free cloth; for example, a microfibre cloth. No cleaning agents or solvents may be used to clean the device. The DEHNsense EFD must always be handled with care.
If the DEHNsense EFD is damaged, does not work or is not in good order and condition, it must be withdrawn from service and sent to DEHN for repair. Damaged devices must be excluded from further use.

Make sure that the DEHNsense EFD is switched on (press the button for approx. three seconds) and Bluetooth is activated on your smartphone.
You can add a new device via the + button on the "My devices" page in the DEHNwork app and then select it. When pairing with the EFD for the first time, the 6-digit PIN is prompted via a pairing request. This can be found on the rating plate of the EFD (on the back).
Once the two devices have been successfully paired, the DEHNsense EFD is active in the app and can be configured.
No!
The EFD is used to warn of voltages for additional safety. In any case, the 5 safety rules must always be applied!
After instruction, only a qualified electrician or an electrically instructed person.
No!
The DEHNsense EFD is designed for AC voltages from 6 to 420 kV / 16.7 to 60 Hz.
No!
The EFD can only detect the electric field when it is pointed without obstruction towards the source of danger. Depending on the application, it should be worn on the helmet or on top of clothing on the wrist.
Yes, after it has been configured for the first time using the DEHNwork app.
Place the EFD on the charging cradle and wait until the orange charging symbol appears. The EFD is then fully recharged.

DEHNsense EFD
The EFD gives timely warning of danger from electric current, directly when entering the danger zone. As an additional measure to the 5 safety rules, the detector significantly increases safety when working on electrical systems. Suitable for nominal voltages from 6 to 420 kV.
