The challenge

Fluctuations in voltage quality in power grids can lead to system failures and premature material fatigue.

In order to identify power quality problems and to assert a claim for damages, proof of compliance with the permitted limit values must be provided. Bender offers the certified LINETRAXX PEM735 mains power quality analyser for this purpose. It measures the electrical parameters of an electricity supply network, such as current and voltage, energy consumption and power, and even displays individual harmonic components to assess the voltage quality. These digital measuring devices must be protected against failure and destruction from overvoltage.

The solution

In addition to the existing protection components in the switchgear, specific surge protection components from DEHN are used for the digital measuring devices.

All coupling paths for both power supply systems and information and communication technology are wired with surge arresters. BLITZDUCTOR or DEHNpatch arresters are used depending on the communication standard used. The supply voltage is protected by a DEHNrail surge arrester.
