For 125 years, UL, a leading international company in the area of safety science, has been providing clarity and confidence for manufacturers by ensuring that goods, solutions and innovations for both today and tomorrow can be developed, manufactured, marketed and sold in a responsible way.
In 2018, UL and the globally active family-run business DEHN agreed to intensify their future cooperation. The plan is to use the testing and laboratory capacity in Neumarkt to expand UL’s range of services for surge and lightning protection.
The DEHN Test Centre has already been listed in the UL Data Acceptance Program (DAP) since 2012. “DAP enables DEHN to conduct tests on its own equipment in order to get the UL mark of approval. By deepening the cooperation to include the Third-Party Test Data Program, we can, together with UL, expand our testing services for third parties and examine, verify and certify the safety of lightning protection products in conformity with UL regulations”, said Dr Thomas Schöpf, CTO at DEHN.
The cooperation with DEHN means that those tests required for lightning and surge protection as the basis for internationally recognised certificates can be conducted quicker and more effectively. “Due to the excellent laboratory infrastructure and years of experience with the DATA Acceptance Program, expanding the cooperation to include the Third-Party Test Data Program was a natural progression for us.”said Edvard Jensen, Director of Energy & Power Technologies at UL.
