External lightning protection for hospitals
In buildings with critical infrastructure such as hospitals, preventing lightning damage and protecting human life are top priorities. External lightning protection is therefore an absolute must.
In order to comply with all specifications for external lightning protection, we will support you in the detailed planning of the measures. The different lightning protection classes (LPL) of the individual building areas play a decisive role here. For example, the operating theatre is subject to LPL II, while offices and ward blocks are subject to LPL III. The lightning protection classes for hospitals are regulated in the IEC 62305 standard.
Here we show you how to install your external lightning protection on the hospital roof professionally, completely and in a space-saving manner.
Sophisticated measures for the installation of external lightning protection
An external lightning protection system consists of an air-termination system installed on the roof, which is connected to the earth-termination system via down conductors. To avoid dangerous flashovers and thus sparking, separation distances to conductive metallic parts must be maintained during set-up.
This is a real challenge on hospital roofs. This is because heating components, air conditioning and ventilation technology, lift shafts and PV systems that have already been installed create an acute lack of space. Optimisation within energy management and the associated expansion of solar power generation will further reduce the amount of free roof space. So what to do with the external lightning protection?
The solution: HVI Conductors.
By using these high-voltage-resistant insulated down conductors, you can easily maintain separation distances and be sure that lightning currents are diverted to the earthing system in a controlled manner. This makes HVI Lightning Protection a safe and space-saving alternative to conventional lightning protection systems.
