Planning - Planung

Our engineering know-how for your projects

Rely on our experience! Our specialists will plan the lightning protection and earthing measures for your project. The full concept according to IEC/EN 62305 includes:

  • 3D/2D drawings
  • mounting details
  • calculation of the separation distance

  • detailed descriptions
  • tender specifications
  • bills of material
  • material quotation (optional)

Of course, we will provide you with the planning documents so you can use them for your own documentation. We work closely with our customers to meet industry and country-specific requirements. Therefore, project discussions and site surveys are an important part of our service.

  • 3D planning
3D concept of a lightning protection system
  • Positionierung Fangeinrichtung
    Positioning of the air-termination systems

DEHNconcept provides a visual representation of the lightning protection measures. That makes it easier for you to integrate these measures into the building architecture.

At your request, we generate 2D and 3D view drawings as well as mounting details from the 3D computer model of your buildings at any stage of the planning process.

Risk analysis

Our plannings always include a risk analysis according to IEC/EN 62305-2: Protection against lightning – Part 2: Risk management.

There are four categories:

  • Risk R1: Loss of human life
  • Risk R2: Loss of service to the public
  • Risk R3: Loss of cultural heritage
  • Risk R4: Loss of economic valueRisiko R1: Verlust von Menschenleben

One or more risks can be relevant for a building. It is up to you to decide, which risks are to be considered. Based on the risk analysis, we will then create an efficient state-of-the-art lightning protection concept.

Project references

For more than a decade, we have been planning lightning and surge protection solutions for different projects and industries. Find below some examples of our customer projects. In case you require more information, please get in contact with us!

Solarpark Griechenland

Greece, free field photovoltaic system

Free field photovoltaic systems are cost-intensive systems. Permanent availability is required to achieve a good return on investment. An efficient lightning protection system prevents failure resulting from lightning strikes. Therefore an isolated external lightning protection system is also often used in this case.

The free field photovoltaic system in Greece was equipped with an isolated lightning protection system with air-termination rods and insulated spacers.

Pumpstation Geyen

Geyen, pumping station

It is also advisable to plan and install an isolated lightning protection system for individual parts of installations and systems such as pipelines which are located in the open field.

In the pumping station in Geyen (Germany), HVI®power Conductors were used to lead the lighting current out of the potentially explosive areas. This measure allowed us to make the system considerably safer.

Rechenzentrum Darmstadt

Darmstadt, computer centre

Availability has top priority in computer centres. An isolated external lightning protection system is an efficient solution since it has the advantage that no lightning currents enter the structure. This considerably reduces the risk of damage to technical equipment.

A meshed lightning protection system with HVI®Conductors was installed in the computer centre in Darmstadt (Germany).

Open Grid Europe Verdichterstation Werne

Werne, compressor station

In industrial plants with potentially explosive atmospheres, it is important to plan a non-sparking lightning protection concept. This can be achieved by an isolated external lightning protection system.

We implemented such an isolated external lightning protection system for Open Grid Europe’s compressor station in Werne (Germany).
